Watercolor Bath - Dry Point Print - Shrinky Dinky Print - Hand Printed with Archival Ink
Dry point etching is usually done by scratching and engraving the surface of a piece of acrylic, usually between 1/8" and 3/16" thick. The dimension of the work surface adds a profession embossed look, a key feature of professional printmaking. In this work, I developed a new experimental technique using low cost craft supplies. You may have even heard of it before.
Shrinky Dink! Yes, that nostalgic material you might have used in art class way back in elementary school. Considering its properties, I thought it would work to produce a very detailed image at 1/3 of the originally etched size! After much deliberation and experimentation, I seemed to have gotten a print to transfer and capture the same amount of detail it originally had. The thickening of the plastic as it shrinks when baked also lent itself to mimicking higher grade materials.
Created using a groundbreaking new technique, each print is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. This tiny marvel captures a world of intricacy, inviting you to explore the depths of its delicate lines and textures. Elevate your space with this small yet captivating piece that showcases the potential of artistic innovation and skillful precision.
